Covergirl

Covergirl had many names before it became what we know it today. This international company began in 1909 Maryland by Dr. George Bunting. He founded the Noxzema Chemical Company in 1920 when he invented a sunburn remedy which he called Noxema. This product was formulated by a physician in Ocean City, Maryland whose name was Dr. Francis J. Dr. Bunting received the formula for Noxema from Dr. J.  and soon turned this cosmetic into a  household name by 1940.  Noxema was used for many years as the product to remove makeup as well as cleaning your face or sunburn. By the 1960s, Covergirl became popular and was known in the United States as a reliable cosmetic product. The Noxzema Chemical Company became the Noxell Corporation in 1966. In 1989 the company was bought by Procter and Gamble.

The most current faces of Covergirl: Drew Barrymore, Queen Latifah and Taylor Swift.

I don't know if you can see it but in the left hand upper corner there is a little proclamation about Taylor that reads: "Congratulations, TAYLOR SWIFT on achieving total world domination." Wow, I think its a little sad and quite frightening that this little blonde, blue eyed, 21 year old, Country Music, sex kitten can dominate the entire world. Can you get anymore stereotypical?

Okay, pause this video at 0:14 and read that little message at the bottom of the video. It reads: " Lash inserts used prior to application to add fullness but not length." So what they are really telling you is that their product Lash Blast Length isn't truthfully creating Barrymore's look on its own. I have a sneaking suspicion that even with this mascara I could not achieve Barrymore's amazing eyelashes.

"Introducing a breath of fresh air." What? You mean the air was stale before Natureluxe? Well I'll be damned. Glad I know that now. Haha, maybe if I wear this foundation I'll lose some weight since its so weightless. That is so cruel, to play on the insecurity of women and their weight.



Better looking lips in just seven days?! In teeny tiny writing at the bottom left of the video the words "vs bare lips" are seen. Lipperfection can make your lips look better in just seven days as compared to bare lips. Yes they just said that. Your bare lips can look better if you wear their Lipperfection. Wow, they really believe we are that stupid.

QUEEN LATIFAH




I think its interesting that Queen Latifah has to tell us that we are ALL Covergirls. As if to imply that women of the full figure variety were not before.



"It's not the size of your lashes but the brush that you use." This phrase reminds me of a different saying "it's not the size of the boat but the motion of the ocean." Its fascinating how marketing can even have penis envy.



At 0:17 we are flashed this message: "Exact Eyelights Collection vs. bare eyes. Inserts used on models for lash count before applying mascara." Once again they are comparing their makeup to YOUR BARE FACE. And they are also telling us that you cannot achieve this look without fake lashes. So I would like to know what exactly this would look like without those lash inserts.
